Prostate Cancer Centre Logo

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
In Alberta 1 in 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and on average 8 men die each week.

All funds raised from the Annual Remington Charity Golf Classic will go to Calgary’s own Prostate Cancer Centre. This centre is a world-class organization that has visits from over 10,000 men and their families annually and continues to be the benchmark for men’s prostate health. Since 1999 the not-for-profit centre has offered a number of services including awareness to the community, advocacy, diagnosis, treatment, research and after care for men’s prostate health.

In 2005, the first Rapid Access clinic was initiated, cutting wait times to see a urologist from three months to less then ten days. In 2007, Canada’s only mobile PSA clinic, the Man Van™ hit the road creating fun and awareness, and has offered free PSA blood tests to over 9,500 men, most who have never had a previous test.

Today the centre offers three other Rapid Access clinics that enable a patient to meet a variety of specialists, choose his treatment path and to have access to personalized nursing before, during and after treatment. The centre’s newest endeavor, Rapid Access 4 will include personalized visits three, six and nine months following treatment to ensure every man is confident he has received the best care available. All of this work has been completed with no government funding, and relies completely on the generosity of members of the community and local sponsors.
